The greatest is love…

September 11th, 2001 is one day we will never forget where we were or what we were doing. We had recently found out that we were expecting our first child and we remember thinking what are we bringing him/her into?

That day shook us all to our core and left us speechless but it also showed the world that America could stand together. That we loved each other. We saw people crying together, praying together, holding each other that were complete strangers. The love that poured out that day was unbelievable. That is what we were bringing our unborn child into – pure and simple love.

Today on the news, on facebook, on the radio, in the newspaper, everyone is talking about how they will never forget. Yes, let’s never forget that awful tragedy. You will always remember where you were, what you were doing, and how so many innocent people lost their lives that day. But somehow 12 years later we have forgotten the love that was shown to each other not only that day but the weeks that followed.

Let us not forget that.

Today we ask you to go out and show love. Pay for a strangers meal, visit the nursing home, give blood, say “please” and “thank you”, call your mom, take cookies to the fire department, take water to someone who works outside, cut your neighbors grass, hug your family and say “I love YOU.”

Show love. Let’s remember not only the tragedy but how it brought us all together. Complete strangers loved each other that day, let’s get back to that.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”                                                                                                                                                                                        1 Corinthians 13:13
